I have always been impressed at elemense's capabilities with meeting our labour requirements, some of which are at short notice and high in numbers. These requirements are always met within a short time frame with very few candidates being rejected.
The onsite contractor care has allowed my team and the contractors to deal with any queries or issues without having to contact head office and has seen an even greater improvement in communication.
Mechanical Group Manager
BAE Surface Fleet Portsmouth Ltd
BAE
Our relationship with VT Shipbuilding (now BAE Systems Surface Ships) began in the early 90s, initially at their manufacturing site at Woolston. In 2002 a Master Vendor agreement was signed giving responsibility for all permanent and contract recruitment. The agreement was renewed in 2005 and again in 2008.
During 2003/4 the shipyard at Woolston was closed and manufacturing moved to a state of the art manufacturing facility within the Portsmouth Naval Base. elemense was heavily involved in the move, minimising disruption by backfilling staff who did not wish to relocate and smoothly relocating its own contract workforce.
In 2005 Fleet Support Ltd, the company responsible for ship maintenance, RN Fleet logistics, Naval Base security and facilities maintenance joined the Master Vendor. In 2008 VT Group and BAE signed a Joint Venture agreement and BVT Surface Fleet was formed, which subsequently became BAE Systems Surface Ships in Oct 2009.
